Presentation by Air Marshal Diptendu Choudhury, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM (Retd)
- Air power has not been adequately appreciated or leveraged in joint warfare impacting the role it can play in National Power and National Security. It can act as an instrument of coercion and effective impact when leveraged wisely.
- One of the hypotheses for inadequate use of Air Power in Joint Warfare is the dissonance among armed forces, which is not unique to India alone. Around the world, there is friction among different arms of defence forces because of a combination of various factors.
Distinguished audience
- A joint approach in warfare is necessary in the face of challenges faced by India today, especially from China which poses increasing threats from the vertical dimension of the air power to the continental and maritime domains. These challenges necessitate synergising of all the elements of India’s military power towards the common objective of national security.
